Description
This dataset contains 42 anthropometric measurements, along with age and ethnic group information, for 270 male civilian miners working in hard-rock and coal mining operations in the United States.
The survey was conducted in 1981 as part of an ergonomic research study at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The research was led by Dr. M. M. Ayoub, who provided the original measurement data. The study examined the physical characteristics of miners to support workplace ergonomics and equipment design. The original study results were not published at the time the dataset was archived.
The dataset includes body dimensions, circumferences, seated measurements, limb dimensions, and functional reach measurements. These data may be useful for historical research, occupational ergonomics, protective equipment design, and studies of physical accommodation in mining environments.
